  • Worked in Assistant Living Facilities assisting with feeding, administering medication, taking vitals, and monitoring overall well-being of patients.  Supervision from local nurses and doctors provided.

  • Implemented public health education at an orphanage teaching dental hygiene, first aid and safety, personal hygiene and providing vitamins.  

  • Operated a Medical Campaign in a church in a rural community.  Impoverished communities in this area only receive care through these campaigns.  Team tasks were taking vitals, filling in medical charts, educating patients on risk factors of disease and administering medication, vitamins and prenatal vitamins.  Clinical and safety skills were physician supervised.  Spanish language communication of medical terminology was practiced and utilized in conversation.

  • Club Beyond is a faith-based group that leads middle and high school students in weekly club activities that assist with challenges faced through frequent changes in location and lifestyle.  We provide dinner, group and small group discussion and a social hour.  Youth in military families are uprooted every one to three years and parents can deploy for up to 18 months at a time.  In a foreign community, youth need role models to them adjust to language, culture and new customs.

  • I served in a second position as a weekly mentor for a specific high school student.  We discussed personal, social and behavioral concerns of others  and their effect on healthy decision making.

 
Community Outreach Service, Czech Republic                                                 

April 2011

​

  • Taught conversational English and practiced speaking Czech.  

  • Painted school, assisted in landscaping, repaired fencing and removed graffiti.

  • Led physical education activities in gym and PE class.  

  • Taught cooking classes for American and Czech food utilizing the metric system. 

  • Participated in group discussion and leadership building activities with project team at lodging facility in the evenings after dinner.
