  • Assisted Center Co-Director with the establishment of a Veterans Engagement Council (VEC) to enlist veterans with TBI and/or their families members and caretakers in feedback for research.  
  • Recruited 10 veterans and began recruitment process for 25 additional veterans.

  • Earned three credit hours in international health through pre-departure and post-departure classroom learning. 
  • Worked in multiple communities with all body systems, ages, and settings.
  •  Helped plan, set up, and organize two health fairs.  One partnering with multiple local organizations and both working with students from the St. Georges University, Boston, and other countries.
  • Performed breast examinations and taught self-breast examination skills to over 50 women. 
  • Completed in-home visits to 18 homes, providing glucometer and blood pressure readings, performing breast exams, and educating on dental health.
  • Delivered live, on-air education on the topics of Gardasil 9, HPV, puberty, BPH, and cancers of the breast, cervix, ovaries, and colon over national TV and radio. 
  • Scouted neighborhoods and markets to promote health fairs. 
  • Performed more than 10 disability screenings.
  • Worked in St. Georges General Hospital for a day. We shadowed nurses, performed admissions, and assisted with patient care.

Medical Aid Service, Costa Rica

•    Worked in Assistant Living Facilities assisting with feeding, tube feeding, administering medication, taking blood pressure and glucose testing to over 20 patients each day.
•    Taught dental hygiene, first aid and safety, personal hygiene and provided vitamins in an orphanage of approximately 50 children.  
•    Operated a Medical Campaign in a church in a rural community. Took vitals, filled in medical charts, educated patients on risk factors of disease and administered medication, vitamins and prenatal vitamins under physician supervision.  Spanish communication of medical terminology utilized in conversation.
 
High School Service Leader , Germany

•    Led more than 40 middle and high school students in weekly club activities that assist with challenges faced through frequent changes in location and lifestyle of military families.
•    Provided dinner, small group discussion and a social hour.
•    Taught students new language and culture in foreign community.
•    Served as a weekly mentor for one high school student discussing personal, social and behavioral concerns and their effect on healthy decision making.

Community Outreach Service, Czech Republic

•    Taught daily conversational English and practiced speaking Czech with 20 students.  
•    Painted school, assisted in landscaping, repaired fencing and removed graffiti.
•    Led daily classes of 10 students in physical exercises and ultimate frisbee.
•    Taught daily cooking classes to 10 students making rice krispies, peanut butter balls, and a local dessert utilizing the metric system.
